Abstinence and Prostate Cancer

I don’t know who wrote the comment, but on Amazon.com, someone wrote  in their review of A Keyholder’s Handbook that I am wrong about abstinence in men having no ill side effects. They quoted a study found in the American Medical Journal that says there is a direct link between abstinence and prostate cancer.

In fact, this person is correct about the article, but does not understand that the AMA (or AMJ) publishes studies and their results in order to entice other researchers to duplicate the study and the findings. The fact is, this was the only study that gave those results. Other studies have not been able to reproduce the same results. The fact is, the AMA knows more about what does NOT cause prostate cancer than they do about what does cause it.

There have been studies that indicate that African-American males are more prone to getting prostate cancer than any other race. Why this is, no one knows. Other studies have shown that obesity “may” be a factor, but then, again, more studies have not been able to confirm it.

I do my research. Yes, there was a study that may have indicated that abstinence is a factor in some men. However, there has been nothing conclusive either way. Other studies simply could not reproduce the same results. Therefore, the AMA does not stand behind any study that cannot be confirmed through reproduction.

The author of that particular comment, however, did recommend frequent prostate milking and numerous ruined orgasms might help alleviate the problem. Okay. I agree with giving your chaste male lots of prostate milking and ruined orgasms, just not as a cancer prevention.

Because there have been literally millions of men throughout history that have been abstinent for years and there has been no correlation made between abstinence and prostate cancer, I believe that male chastity is safe, as far as developing prostate cancer is concerned.

Sorry for wasting your time on my soap box, but I hate people who read one thing and take it as Gospel. Do your research! After all, it wasn’t that long ago that coffee was supposed to cause all kinds of maladies, and then it was decided that it was actually good for you. So go figure. It may turn out that chastity is the answer to many male health problems (especially sexually transmitted ones?), for all we know.

  1. I don't know for a fact if not using something causes cancer or not but I have had too many friends with prostate cancer later on in life. Which I would believe is caused because lack of use. Why would a women deny a man something as simple as ejaculation that would in my opinion prevent cancer. Internal organs should be used to keep the body healthy. It can be ruined orgasm or even milking, but this should be done at least once a week from what I have read. Just a chaste mans thought. Steve

  2. Maybe the cancer is caused because the male is wearing a cock cage, and the ring is too tight. I have no medical training whatsoever. I am new to this and started wearing a cage a few weeks ago, and the ring is a little tight. I take it off at night. (yes, my wife doesn't yet know about my intentions). I appreciate Mistress Ivey's post though. The more you know about a topic, the better you will be equipped to make decisions. jbodeen

  3. In response to the two messages above: I think it's only fair to mention that the study I saw, only said the men were "abstinent" not that they wore any type of device, chastity or otherwise. My major question to them would be, how do they KNOW these men remained abstinent? The study does not mention that, but it takes years for these types of studies and I can't see very many men remaining abstinent just because they are part of some study. Besides, remember that no other study has supported those findings.

    1. Very respectfully -- I am not a doctor, but a quick Google found this article that seems to imply there is more evidence indicating low frequency of ejaculation can indeed increase the chances of prostate cancer. I am as sorry to hear this as you, since I think one of the best ways for a woman to control her male is via long periods of chastity.

    2. I checked with the "Urology Research Foundation" who is THE place to go. They admit there is no hard evidence that prostate cancer is caused by abstinence. It seems for ever study that says there is, there is another study that refutes it. So, I guess we are all on our own.

  4. Mistress Ivey, I'm experimenting with abstinence and have currently lasted nearly three months, except for one orgasm that I allow myself 2 months ago in a moment of weakness. Technically, I guess I've only lasted 2 months. Your blog has been an inspiration for me to continue, but sadly, I'm doing it on my own. I'm not in a relationship. Possibly even more pathetically, I started doing it after discussing the fantasy of orgasm ownership with a cam model. She seemed intrigued in wanting to take ownership of my orgasm even though she's somewhat new to Femdom. So, without trying to top too much from the bottom, I suggested that maybe she read your blog to get some ideas. I feel like she brushed that off and hasn't read the blog and has taken less and less of an interest in me i.e. not reading/replying to emails. Although she does talk to me when I'm in her chat room. I'm not naive, and understand that her cam business is exactly that, business. So on a personal level, she most likely really isn't interested in taking control over my orgasms. However, she's never actually told me that I can have an orgasm. She strings me along, giving me a glimmer of hope that it might happen soon, but after 3 months of no orgasms, and an initial discussion of having one after 6 weeks, I feel foolish and feel like I should just jackoff like a wild unrestrained animal and have 10 orgasms in rapid succession. If she at least gave me some attention, I'd feel differently about it. I fee dumb for ever having agreed to abstain. As an alternative, I feel that maybe in order to not have my efforts go to waste, it might be best to talk to a professional Domina I'm interested in having a session with, and explaining to her that I've abstained as along as I have (without explaining why I did it or coming up with a different story) and having my eventual orgasm/milking play out in a session.

Mistress Ivey, what thoughts do you have on my situation.

    1. In my opinion, if the woman with the web-cam is not interested in REALLY helping you, guiding, controlling, your orgasms, then by all means, find someone else who will. It sounds like you may have found someone that you would like to try. If that's who you want, then give it a try. Personally, you may have better luck with a non-professional Dominant. Someone willing to use instant messaging or email to give you tasks, and control your orgasms. Sometimes, a pro can seem less interested in you than you might think. But it is your choice.

  5. As I love my caged and chaste husband very much I looked carefully at the possible consequences of prolonged abstinence. My conclusion was that abstinence over a week or two has no known side effects. However, over months at a time there is no certainty that there will be no effects.

But it is important to not the distinction between an abstinence where there is no ejaculation and one in which there is no orgasm. Sexual dominance is all about orgasm; the little messes men make can and should be divorced from any sexual pleasure a dominant wife chooses to give her husband.

Prostate milking is a happy alternative to pleasurable ejaculation. And very easy to do. Lie your husband down on his tummy on a towel with his hands secured firmly behind his back. Push a vibrator into his bottom - three or four inches are all that are needed - switch it on and go and read a book for half an hour. Come back, untie his hands and tell him to clean up his mess. Done. (For more variants on this theme see my book: "A Ladies Guide to Prostate Milking" on Kindle.)

The delightful thing about prostate milking is that you don't even have to release your husband from his chastity device. In fact it is better not to. Plus, he will get no relief whatsoever from his useful sexual tension. He will be just as eager to please immediately after he is milked as he was before.

(And, by the way, for "unknown", some ladies, including myself, have two or three gentlemen in chastity at a distance and are delighted to control their ejaculations as well as any sexual release they are permitted.)

    1. Thank you, Hannah.
I appreciate your comments. I agree with you, that there MAY be some risk, or maybe not, but one should decide for themselves if they want to take that risk. People eat "blackened" foods all the time knowing full well that the hydrocarbons they are ingesting "may" cause stomach or intestinal cancer. Because of the lack of hard evidence that prolonged abstinence causes prostate cancer, I believe that the risk is up to the individual or couple.

But, of course, I am all for prostate milking! I happen to think it's fun to do. I also love to ruin orgasms, even though it is a little more difficult to learn than prostate milking. So, in the end, it's not really the length of the abstinence that is fun, it's the way you allow for an orgasm.

  6. According to the Mayo Clinic, the causes of prostate cancer are unknown and the risk factors are age, race, family history, and obesity. The NHS (of England) lists also includes diet and adds exercise as a *possible* preventive measure. The idea that a man can get prostate cancer in the absence of these factors by not ejaculating enough or by wearing a cock ring too tightly is laughable.

  7. I have to wear the bird-cage type Monday morning until Friday evening ( weekly evaluation time ). If I earned it; it comes off for the weekend. I don't mind it much, the advantages outweigh the negatives-even for me ( I'm "distracted"-shall we say-less ).

  8. Prostate cancer does not depend on the number of ejaculation. Long term orgasm denial is excellent for him. No bad side effects.

  9. I masturbated many times per week for years but still contracted prostate cancer at age 67. It could be argued that frequent ejaculation also down not reduce the possibility of prostate cancer.

  11. So has anyone stopped to research whether genetics is a factor, diet, region, basically EVERY OTHER CONSIDERED FACTOR FOR CANCER???

There are SOOOO many things to factor in to ANY kind of study. If it cannot be replicated and ALL of the countless other sources be completely 100% discounted, I'm thinking it's safe to say there's no REAL worry.

But I will get RIGHT ON research showing that women get cervical cancer because of the small penises not large enough to massage it!

  12. My wife has had me lock in the holy trainer almost full time side 2/1 and I have had no chance to orgasm. I have orally pleasured her about 10 times.. but today something strange happened.. I leave for work before she's awake..she text me at work to say she had dreamed of giving me a blowjob. Almost immediately I felt a pressure in my balls so I went into the bathroom and semen started to come out.. has this happened to anyone?
